Ethos

guava was born in response to a publishing landscape that was not as diverse as it marketed itself to be. Created by the people, for the people, the goal is to reflect the true creative landscape. We aim to highlight and prioritize diverse and up-and-coming creatives.
I wanted to create a space where stories like mine would be reflected and acknowledged. This magazine has an artist first approach - there is feedback offered for every submission, submissions are free, and artists are paid. Community is at the heart of what we do. Every issue of the magazine is available free online.
If you're disabled, queer, BIPOC, or anyone who feels like they haven't had a chance to have their voice heard, then guava is the place for you. We can't wait to meet you.

Meet the Team
Editor in Chief
Hello! My name is Liv, I'm the founder and Editor in Chief for guava. As both a practicing writer myself and an editor, I bring a unique perspective to publication.
A little about me - I am a queer Cuban American poet based between Edinburgh and Seville. My work has been published in places such as Gutter, Interpret, LIT Magazine, Still Point, and more. Last year I published my self illustrated poetry zine, Florida Woman, and I am currently working on my debut poetry pamphlet.
My own work straddles the intersection of identities and senses of place with a touch of magical realism. Outside of poetry, I am currently working on my PhD at the University of Seville.
I can't wait to see your work!
Liv x
